3 Ways to Prepare For a Rainy Day

As you may have heard, this past weekend a large geographic area of the Carolinas was devastated by rain and floods.  Whether you are a a school that was personally affected by these natural disasters, or are just looking to have a plan in place for the future, here are some tips that will help you put a plan together courtesy of Student Accident.

1. Have a clean water supply available – In the case of a flood or natural disaster, it is very common for the city water supply to become contaminated or be shut off.  You should prepare for this by having an amply amount of clean water for all students and faculty stored on site.

2. Have first aid kits available and accessible – As every educator knows, injuries can happen at any time and in any place and that most certainly would include at a school during a flood.  Make sure every room has an easily accessible first aid kit to help anyone in need.

3. Have a plan to notify and update parents – In the case of any flood or natural disaster, it is very likely that power will be lost.  Make sure you have generators in place to keep all parents in the loop about what is going on at the school and what your plans are the keep everyone safe.
